c. 2013 Kopp Advanced Jumbo (Madagascar Rosewood)
Made by extremely well respected luthier Kevin Kopp, formerly of the Gibson Acoustic factory, this Advanced Jumbo is an incredibly good luthier made guitar for an incredibly good price.
This guitar features an Adirondack spruce top, complemented by Kevin's beautiful hand-rubbed sunburst finish. The back and sides are crafted from nice dark Madagascar rosewood which, to many people, is a better alternative for a modern guitar than a new Brazilian instrument.
Like its Gibson predecessor from the 30’s, it has the longer 25 1/2" scale length, a 1 3/4" bone nut, and 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle. The neck has a rounded V profile, offering a vintage feel without being overly bulky. The fingerboard and bridge are made from Madagascar rosewood, with abalone inlays on the fingerboard and headstock in the traditional AJ style. . The headcap and heelcap are made from what looks like ebony, altough it could be a dyed wood as well. . The body and neck are finished with Ivoroid binding, and it is equipped with Waverly nickel tuners with Snakewood buttons.
There is a normal amount of small wear on the body of the instrument, plus a ding on the headstock and some checking on the headstock reverse. There’s one repaired crack on the back.
Super nice open boomy sound, with a nice pronounced midrange to top it off.
Comes with the original hardshell case.
