1967 Gibson LG-1 (Luthier's Special)
Here we’ve got a bit of a luthier’s special. This is a great sounding, playable late 60’s ladder braced LG that, in its current condition, could use a fair bit of work, although it’s been this way for decades.
The pros: a fixed center seam crack above the bridge, a fixed fretboard extension crack, and a previous neck set.
The cons: A still open center seam split below the bridge, an open back center seam, a back crack, and the old neck reset is pretty much done for and will require a new one. There are also two large gouges on the top, although they’re not cracks, just deep scratches. A missing section of mahogany on the back has been rather unfortunately “repaired” sometime in the past.
ALL THIS BEING SAID, this guitar is a surprisingly good player with a nice flat, dry sound that would record well in front of a warm sounding microphone. We figure someone with some repair prowess will be excited for this one as a prospective project, but it’s a great guitar in its own right!
Comes with a hard shell case.
