1931 Gibson L-00 12 Fret
1931 Gibson L-00 12 Fret
This very early 1931 Gibson L-00 is from the very first year of their production, and in 1931, nobody knew just how popular these guitars would get. The body, unlike its later counterparts (even 9 months or so later) features a 12 fret to the body joint, as well as a black finish that is lovely and worn in, giving this guitar a great played in feel. While most guitars from this era feature a prominent “V” neck shape, this L-00 has a surprisingly round profile, giving it more of a large “C” feel, which is quite comfortable in the hand.
With a mahogany top, like the L-0’s from this year, you’d expect a thinner sound, but this guitar has a great, rich, boomy vintage voice that’s well suited for fingerpicking and flatpicking alike, with a dry, almost sarcastic quality to it.
Bridge has been shaved, but is original, with a new saddle. There is one major back crack that’s been repaired.
Comes with modern hard case.
