Though the mandolin had long since left its spotlight in the popular eye, which included the death of its Master Model F5, Gibson continued to manufacture their long running oval hole mandolins, including this lovely A4. Although in appearance the mandolins seemed identical to their decade older counterparts, by the thirties the quintessential 3-Tone-Sunburst that was common to the 4 series of mandolins was one of the only visual similarities left. Gibson ditched the neck binding, the “The” from the name, (along with rotating it horizontally), and most importantly, started using Nitrocellulose instead of their proprietary varnish.
Replaced tuners, no pickguard. Comes with the original Gibson case.
