This is, for all intents and purposes, the cream of Collings’ crop.
The MF5 Deluxe is the highest end of Collings mandolin line, and you definitely can tell by playing this beauty.
From 2014, and very well played, this Collings has definite signs of life in it, from the speed neck to the reasonable amount of buckle rash, as well as check in the varnish finish down by the treble F hole, but it’s merely visual and not structural. The letters “ER” are etched into the heel cap. At least it’s got life to it!
Great warm sound, great woody sound, and super comfortable large V profile neck with a 1 ⅛ nut that makes for great playability and a modern feel that’s got a touch of vintage to it.
Torch and wire inlay.
Comes with a Calton hard case. Armrest made by Brad at Turkey Creek Mandolins.
