"Crazy Horse" 6-String Openback Banjo
"Crazy Horse" 6-String Openback Banjo
Made by a small builder under the name “Crazy Horse”, this 6 string “Guit-jo” is a lovely open back with a warm sound, thanks to the Elite Fiberskyn head and 11” pot.
There are a number of woods on this great looking banjo, some of which are hard to identify but the best we can suss out it this-
The flamed maple neck, with a nice comfy C profile and a 1 ¾ nut, has ebony layers sandwiched between, and what appears to be a padauk fretboard. Inlayed into this is a horse, possibly made of Malachite or some other Jadeite style gem, along with the logo on the spalted maple headstock.
The rim is three layers, what looks like quilted walnut, a spruce and ebony herringbone purfling strip, and some sort of quite beautiful brown spalted wood. A brass block acts as a standoff between the rim and the neck. This banjo also features nickel hardware on the 16 bracket pot assembly.
This thing sounds quite nice and plays even better.
Comes with a hard case.
