C. Late 1970's Liberty Banjo Company (Parts Banjo)
A custom made resonator banjo, possibly with a neck designed by, if not made by Bob Flesher of the Liberty Banjo company. There’s a possibility that the whole banjo is essentially a “home built” Liberty Banjo using factory parts with no logos.
The pot assembly, with the rim made of laminated maple, could be pieced together from either an OME or Stelling rim and Liberty Banjo Company parts, but most likely all from the Liberty Banjos parts catalogue, and it’s lug on style as opposed to a single piece or multi piece flange.
Mahogany resonator, mahogany neck with ebony fretboard with a 20’s style inlay and a Bob Flesher designed headstock inlay. The mahogany neck features a three-piece center strip: maple, ebony, maple for a 5 piece construction. The neck features vintage Waverly tuners.
No hole flathead (with a great sound), and a lug-on construction with two point lug flanges.
1 ¼ nut, fairly slim 70’s neck profile. Comes nicely set up with a Snuffy Smith bridge. Vintage Waverly tuners, which work great.
Really lovely full sounding banjo from the 70’s! Very similar sound to many contemporary Gibsons, a bright, full, upper midrange and a present bass end.
Comes with non-original hard case.
